Super Bowl XLV is set to kick-off at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas at 6:29 p.m. this coming Sunday, Feb. 6. Watch the Packers battle the Steelers and enjoy the game with good friends, good food and good drinks.
Dressing up your Super Bowl party
• Encourage guests to come dressed in their favorite team colors.
• Hosts can wear referee striped jerseys.
• Decorate your party room with tablecloths, shirts, jackets, hats and other team paraphernalia or items in team colors.
• Add team and player posters, football equipment, pennants and photos to the room's decor.
• Use white tape or chalk to mark off the yard lines from the curb to your front door.
• Cover chair backs with sports jerseys.
• Welcome your guests to the party by putting a sign over the door with your name as part of the stadium name (ex Smith Stadium, James Field).
• Set up a friendly football betting pool, not only on the outcome of the game but also using the squares system. Make a 10 X 10 grid on a really large piece of paper, with the numbers 0-9 across the boxes at the top, and the numbers 0-9 beside the boxes running down the left side of the grid. The horizontal numbers represent one team and the vertical numbers represent the other. Have people pay $5 per square (or whatever you choose). After each quarter of the game, look at the score. If it's 10 to 7, find the 0 on the horizontal squares and follow it across to the 7 on the vertical squares, where the two meet is your winner! It's simple and it encourages even the non fan to become involved.
Ideas for serving the crowd
• No gridiron gathering would be complete without snacks.
Blue Cheese Vodka Balls, Spicy Guacamole with Pita Chips, Steamed Mussels with Sambuca and Grilled Spicy Chicken Wings can all be found on our snacks and appetizers page.
• Create a special drink concoction served from your "Super Bowl" (a nice big punch bowl or whatever is handy). Visit our punch page for great punch ideas.
• Design a buffet to resemble a concession stand to dispense the food and drinks.
• Use items like football helmets, shoulder pads, etc. to hold baskets or bowls of food. (You might want to clean them first!)
• Try Astroturf on your buffet table to substitute for a tablecloth.
• Make your life as party host easier, (and help ensure that you have a chance to enjoy the game as well) by visiting our hospitality party tips and hints page.
• Be a responsible host and ensure you offer non alcoholic choices as well. Visit www.thatsthespirit.com for non alcoholic drink choices.
