Drinks Inspired by Upcoming Twilight Movie New Moon

In anticipation of the upcoming release of New Moon, famed Chicago mixologist Charles Joly, has concocted some tempting cocktails (including a booze-free drink) for Cullen fans.

To celebrate the upcoming release of New Moon, we bring you some delicious drinks containing tart cherry juice or juice concentrate, for a powerful punch of antioxidants and the perfect blood red colour.

Twilight fans of all ages can also enjoy the Never Bitten, a non-alcoholic beverage that pairs the pleasant punch of tart cherry juice with sweet coconut and sparkling soda.

Please enjoy responsibly. These drinks are also perfect for Halloween parties.


Never Bitten (non-alcoholic)

2 ounces (60 mL) tart cherry juice
4 ounces (120 mL) coconut water
2 ounces (60 mL) club soda

Pour ingredients into an 8 ounce (240 mL) glass. Stir to combine and serve.

Yield: 1 serving

Twilight Cocktail

Edward- and Jacob-lovers alike will enjoy this blood-red cocktail.

1/2 ounces (15 mL) cherry concentrate
1.5 ounces (40 mL) Maker's Mark (bourbon)
3/4 ounces (20 mL) Grand Marnier
1/2 ounces (15 mL) Domain de Canton, ginger liqueur
3/4 ounces (20 mL) fresh lemon juice
1/4 ounces (5 mL) agave nectar (or simple syrup)

Drizzle the blood-red cherry concentrate around the inside of a dry (or chilled) martini glass. Combine remaining ingredients in cocktail shaker. Shake with ice and strain into the cherry concentrate-lined glass. Use a vegetable peeler to cut a strip of orange zest -- squeeze oil over top of cocktail and place garnish decoratively.

Stir the cherry concentrate in with the shaken cocktail before enjoying.

Forever Young

One of the best things about cherry juice? The antioxidants. Stay forever young, as a true vampire does, as you sip on this blood-red cocktail.

1.5 ounces (40 mL) cherry juice
1.5 ounces (40 mL) Plymouth gin
3/4 ounces (20 mL) fresh lemon juice
3/4 ounces (20 mL) simple syrup
1 ounce (30 mL) sparkling wine (Prosecco, Cava, Champagne)

Combine gin, cherry juice, lemon juice and simple syrup in cocktail shaker. Shake with ice and strain into chilled cocktail glass. Float sparkling wine on top. Can be served as a martini or on the rocks. Use a vegetable peeler to cut a strip of lemon zest- squeeze oil over top of cocktail and place garnish decoratively.

Eternal Kiss

Does the thought of the eternal kiss make you sweat? Cool your senses with this delightfully refreshing cocktail.

1.5 ounces (40 mL) cherry juice
1.5 ounces (40 mL) Cachaca (Cabana is preferred brand)
3.4 ounces (100 mL) ginger liqueur (Domain de Canton is preferred brand )
3/4 ounces (20 mL) fresh lime juice
3/4 ounces (20 mL) soda water

Combine cachaca, ginger liqueur, cherry and lime juice in cocktail shaker. Shake with ice and strain into desired glassware. Float soda water on top. Garnish with a lime zest.
