Forget the quintessential American summer barbecue fare - as with most other things, we Canadians do it our own way. Anyone can throw a hamburger on the grill, but we've taken it one step further and wrapped succulent marinated grilled chicken in a pita with a big fat Greek twist – a cucumber tzatziki relish. Grandma's potato salad gets a makeover by adding feta cheese, green beans and radishes, all enjoyed with a tall, cool drink of minty limeade and topped off with grilled fruit kebabs dipped in chocolate. It's all part of this summer's open season on convention, a new way of looking at the things that make this time of year what it is. Mix old recipes with new, new friends with family, family traditions with a sprinkling of novelty. Pack your cooler, grab that old transistor radio and enjoy Home & Country's meal to remember.
