Ester Sekeris,

To unwind I like to pick a destination I would love to travel to and plan out the whole trip using the internet and/or guides from the library. It doesn't even matter if I actually take the trip, the planning takes me away for a while !

Here are some pearls of wisdom from real women who have found inventive ways of keeping stress in check, and lead healthier, happier, more balanced lives.

Joanne Garnett, Ontario

My ultimate favorite way to unwind is to arrange fun times out for my husband and kids. This way - I get the house to myself. That means - peace and quiet. Then, I meditate and focus on all good things in life. I look at any stressful or negative current situations and find the good in each of them. I picture myself healthy, happy and full of love to give out to family, friends and whomever I cross paths with. This is how I unwind and reboot myself.

Margo Stoney, New Brunswick

My daughter and I go to a body flow class-Yoga, Tai Chi and Pilates, then go sit in the sauna for 10 minutes to mellow out. I enjoy her company while getting a good stretch and often a few laughs as we navigate through some of the more challenging poses.

krisitne hibbs, Newfoundland and Labrador

I like to call up an old friend and chat for a few hours. Sometimes reconnecting with those that I don't see that often is a great way for me to relax. I put my feet up, grab a glass of wine and start dialing.

Lois Williamson, Ontario

I unwind by writing in my journal. I write all I'm grateful for and then I vent on all the things I'm upset about or worrying about. It helps to get it out of my head and on paper.

Chris Schwartz, Ontario

My favourite way to unwind is to transform my bathroom into a mini-retreat of candles, bubbles, music and let the world go by for a while and focus on me. I remind myself I am worth it too !

Maureen Mitchell, Alberta

One of my favorite ways to unwind is to sleep in Sunday morning, read the paper, go to church, turn up the music and cook. Sundays...I love them !

Angela Blanchard, Ontario

I know it may sound crazy but this time of year, I actually enjoy getting out and about and doing Christmas shopping ! All of the surroundings just fill me with Christmas spirit and make me look forward to the upcoming festivities !

Heather Voegeli, Nova Scotia

One of my favorite ways to unwind is to call someone who makes me feel good when talking with them, like my sister, daughter or friend. I get to talk about my problems and they make feel better about the situation.

Robin Sheardown, Ontario

When I need to relax, I love to spend my evening with my parents and sisters and friends. We play euchre (a family game I've played for as long as I can remember), drink wine, and laugh the night away. I feel so refreshed the next day.

Debby Storr, Ontario

I enjoy my aerobics classes for a great way to start my day and, then, preparing a good evening meal is a wonderful way to unwind at the end.
